Lagos Authorities Seize N3 Billion Worth of Counterfeit and Banned Cosmetic Products

Authorities in Lagos have uncovered a warehouse storing counterfeit and banned cosmetic products valued at approximately N3 billion. The facility, hidden inside an unfinished building in the APT Trade Fair Complex area, was discovered during a routine inspection by regulators.

Products Seized

Officials reported that the warehouse contained hundreds of cartons of prohibited items, including crusader soap, E45 soap, and gold extract whitening soaps—products that are banned for public sale due to health risks. In addition, assorted perfumes, body oils, and cooking oils were also recovered and are undergoing further regulatory evaluation.

“All confiscated products have been removed from the premises to prevent circulation,” authorities said, emphasizing the potential dangers of using such unverified and banned items.

Investigation and Public Advisory

The manager of the warehouse has been summoned for questioning as enforcement actions continue. Regulators have urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid purchasing unverified cosmetics, and report any suspicious products or outlets to the nearest authorities.

This seizure underscores ongoing efforts to curb the distribution of counterfeit goods in Nigeria, protect consumer safety, and maintain strict compliance with national product standards.
