Teenager Arrested in Delhi After Allegedly Setting Partner on Fire During Domestic Dispute


A 19-year-old man in Gurugram, Delhi, has been taken into custody following a shocking incident in which he allegedly poured flammable liquid on his live-in partner and set her on fire. The victim, also 19, recounted the harrowing events that reportedly spanned three days of sustained abuse.

Disturbing Account of Domestic Violence

According to authorities, the young woman from Tripura State described being assaulted repeatedly, including being struck on the head with a metal object, attacked with a knife, and subjected to forced physical contact under the guise of marriage. The violence reportedly escalated after an argument about their future together.

The survivor, a biotechnology student in Gurugram, remains in critical condition at Safdarjung Hospital, receiving intensive medical care following the ordeal.

Law Enforcement Response

Delhi police confirmed that the suspect, identified as Shivam, has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the attack, and authorities emphasized the seriousness of domestic violence and the need for swift legal action in such cases.
