Nigerian Property Mogul Arrested After 89.2kg Cannabis Seizure by NDLEA

A prominent Nigerian real estate entrepreneur, Kolapo Raji, has been arrested by national anti-drug authorities following the discovery of a massive haul of cannabis weighing 89.2 kilograms.

Authorities confirmed that Raji, who manages multiple property ventures, was taken into custody at his residence in Lagos after a targeted investigation into drug distribution networks in the region.

Major Seizure and Investigation Details

During the operation, officers recovered four large bags containing the cannabis, identified as a potent strain commonly referred to as Canadian Loud. The seizure marks one of the largest cannabis confiscations linked to an individual in recent months.

Investigators noted that Raji allegedly began his involvement in illicit drug operations after facilitating shipments for overseas associates. Reports indicate that he was motivated to establish an independent distribution network following substantial financial gains from these early transactions.

Authorities also seized Raji’s 2024 model Toyota Hilux during the raid, suggesting potential links to broader trafficking operations.

Law Enforcement Signals Strong Action

The anti-drug agency emphasized its ongoing commitment to dismantling domestic and transnational narcotics syndicates exploiting Nigeria’s borders and urban centers. Officials noted that this arrest forms part of a wider crackdown across multiple states, targeting organized criminal networks and their key operatives.

This high-profile apprehension underscores the expanding reach of authorities in combating drug-related activities and sends a warning to individuals attempting to use Nigeria as a transit or distribution hub for illegal substances.

Authorities confirmed that Raji remains in custody as investigations continue, with further legal action anticipated against anyone connected to the trafficking network.
