Following the tragic death of Nigerian singer Ifunanya “Nanyah” Nwangene, reportedly from snake bites, a concerned resident has shared a disturbing personal story to warn others of hidden dangers in urban housing.
Dr. Uche Nworah recounted that in 2024, a snake was found in a guest room of his Abuja apartment. After fumigating the property, a larger cobra emerged from a toilet, startling everyone present. An investigation revealed his home was connected to the city’s central sewage system, allowing reptiles to enter through drainage pipes.
Nworah noted that Nanyah, like many city residents, lived in a ground-floor apartment, which may increase the risk of such intrusions. To prevent recurrence, he installed non-return valves on all toilets—devices that allow waste out but block anything from coming back in.
His account serves as a caution to residents, especially those on lower floors in cities with central sewage networks, to inspect their plumbing and consider preventive measures.
