Previously unseen images from the FBI’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s death have been released, showing the disgraced financier on a stretcher shortly after he was found unresponsive in his prison cell in August 2019.
The photos, part of a declassified FBI report titled “Jeffrey Epstein death investigation,” timestamp the scene at roughly 6:49 a.m.—about 16 minutes after guards discovered him. Epstein was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The images show him being attended to by medical personnel, with one close-up revealing a visible neck injury.
Epstein was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. According to the documents, he had been placed on suicide watch after an earlier attempt in July 2019, though he later told a psychologist he had “no interest in killing myself.”
The report also notes security failures the night he died: guards skipped required checks at 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., and the unit’s camera system was not operational.
Epstein’s death, ruled a suicide, has been surrounded by persistent controversy and conspiracy theories. These newly published images are part of ongoing public and legal scrutiny into the circumstances surrounding the end of his case.
