Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Departs Chippa United

Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has left South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United after four years with the club.

Chippa United confirmed the departure in a statement on Thursday, noting that the 29-year-old requested to be released despite signing a three-year contract extension in 2024. The club agreed to the request and thanked him for his “service, commitment, and professionalism.”

Nwabali has not publicly commented on his next career move. Reports suggest he could remain in the PSL, move to Europe, or secure a transfer to a club in Saudi Arabia.

The goalkeeper joined Chippa from Nigeria’s Katsina United in 2022, made over 70 appearances, and served as team captain. His standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations cemented his position as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.
