Human rights lawyer and political analyst Chidi Odinkalu has raised doubts about the reported involvement of Nollywood actor Stanley Amandi in an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking during an interview on the program 90 Minutes Africa on Iroko Post TV, Odinkalu reacted to news of Amandi’s arrest alongside military personnel accused of planning to overthrow the government.
Odinkalu highlighted what he called puzzling inconsistencies in the allegations, particularly the choice of an actor from Enugu State in the South-East as a supposed propagandist for a coup targeting a president from the South-West, while the alleged masterminds are said to be from northern Nigeria.
“How can you choose an actor from Enugu to be the mouthpiece for a coup against a president from the southwest, when all the alleged masterminds are from the northern geopolitical areas of the country?” Odinkalu questioned.
His comments point to broader skepticism about the narrative emerging from the ongoing investigation, suggesting that the geographical and political dimensions of the alleged plot warrant further clarification.
