Six Killed, Including Two Police Inspectors, in Benue Community Attack

Suspected bandits have killed two police inspectors and four civilians in an attack on Tse-Kaseve village, located in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

The assault occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Monday when scores of armed men on approximately 100 motorcycles stormed the community and attempted to overrun the village market.

Security Forces Repel Attack but Suffer Casualties

Eleven Police Mobile Force personnel deployed for special duty in the area, in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, engaged the attackers and successfully repelled the assault.

However, during the exchange, the assailants ambushed two officers identified as Adams Saidu and Edem Endimon—both attached to 11 PMF, Calabar. The officers were killed, and their service rifles were stolen by the attackers.

Four civilians also lost their lives in the attack. One injured person was rushed to Katsina-Ala General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Ongoing Security Operations

Following the incident, additional troops from the Nigerian Army, tactical units, vigilante groups, and other security agencies were deployed to the area. Security forces are currently conducting bush-combing operations to track down the fleeing suspects.

Confirming the incident, Benue State Police Public Relations Officer Udeme Edet stated: "Sadly, the incident happened, but we're on top of the situation. Tactical teams have been sent, and enforcement by police and other security agencies is being deployed. Investigations are ongoing to track and arrest the suspects."

The attack adds to the growing list of violent incidents targeting communities in Benue State, which has long grappled with insecurity, particularly in its rural and border areas.
