Controversial online personality Saida Boj has ignited widespread criticism and discussion after questioning why an attractive man would drive a Toyota Corolla.
In a viral video, Boj expressed disbelief after spotting a well-dressed, tattooed man behind the wheel of the vehicle, which she referred to as a “toy car.”
“How man go fine finish come dey drive Corolla?” she remarked in the clip. “I was driving yesterday and saw one fine guy… I come see say na Corolla he dey drive. Why you go dey drive Corolla? You fine finish carry toy car put for road dey drive.”
The comment quickly drew backlash across social media, with many accusing Boj of promoting materialism and superficial values. Critics argued that her stance reinforces harmful stereotypes and places undue pressure on men to appear wealthy.
“So being handsome now requires driving a Benz?” one user responded. Another wrote, “Na this kind mentality dey pressure young guys into doing fraud. Make una rest.”
While some agreed that appearance should align with financial status, the overwhelming response condemned the act of “car-shaming,” especially amid current economic challenges.
The incident has revived broader conversations about societal expectations, gender pressures, and the culture of valuing possessions over personal character.
