Ngozi Orabueze, who claims the titles of deputy prime minister and chief of staff of the United States of Biafra (USB), has received an acknowledgement letter from the White House bearing the autopen signature of President Donald Trump.
Orabueze shared the correspondence on her X account on Tuesday, presenting it as recognition from the American president. However, the document bears the hallmarks of a standard form letter—a pre-written template routinely used by government offices to respond to large volumes of public correspondence.
Generic Language, No Policy Substance
The letter, printed on official White House letterhead, contains broad, non-committal language that offers no specific engagement with Orabueze's demands or the Biafra cause.
"Thank you for your letter. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views and concerns with me. Your thoughts are important, and I value the opportunity to hear from citizens like you," the correspondence reads.
It continues with generic well-wishes: "Melania joins me in sending our best wishes to you and your family."
Notably absent is any reference to Biafra, self-determination, USB, or specific policy positions—language consistent with automated responses sent to thousands of correspondents weekly.
Form Letter, Not Formal Recognition
Such boilerplate responses are generated by White House correspondence offices without presidential involvement and carry no diplomatic or political weight. They neither endorse nor acknowledge the legitimacy of the recipient's claims or causes.
Orabueze has positioned herself as a key lobbyist for Biafran independence in Washington. Her public display of the White House letter appears aimed at projecting influence and credibility among separatist circles.
Critics, however, note that receiving a standard automated reply falls far short of official diplomatic engagement and should not be misrepresented as substantive recognition from the Trump administration.
As of press time, neither the White House nor the State Department has issued any statement regarding Orabueze, the United States of Biafra, or the broader Biafran independence movement.
