"You Are Bigger Than Grammys": Cleric Odumeje Tells Davido After Award Loss

Controversial Nigerian clergyman Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has offered strong words of encouragement to Afrobeats star Davido following the singer's loss at the 68th Grammy Awards.

Speaking during a recent church service, Odumeje dismissed the importance of the Grammy, telling Davido that his impact and legacy in music far outweigh any trophy.

In his signature bold style, Odumeje described Davido as a “generational and living award,” suggesting that his success and influence are honors in themselves.

“What is Grammy? Who knows Grammy? Grammy don’t make us to know you, Davido. We know you as a good singer. That is why we love you, not Grammy,” Odumeje declared.

He also urged Davido not to be discouraged and to keep creating. “Go out and get more inspiration to shock the world with another new music,” he said.

Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration with Omah Lay on “With You” but lost to Tyla, who won the award for the second consecutive year.

Odumeje, known for his unorthodox preaching and claims of supernatural abilities, also cautioned the singer against negative influences, reminding him, “You are already on top of the world.”
