Delta Speaker Urges Police to Deepen Inter-Agency Collaboration for Sustained Peace

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to enhance cooperation with other security agencies to maintain and strengthen peace across the state.

Guwor made the appeal on Thursday when he received the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, and his management team on a familiarisation visit to the Assembly Complex in Asaba.

The Speaker described Delta as one of Nigeria's most peaceful states, attributing this to sustained collaboration among security agencies, government bodies, and the people. He expressed confidence in CP Adesola’s ability to build on this foundation, noting the Commissioner’s previous experience serving in the state.

“We are confident that with your experience and familiarity with the terrain, you will do even more to strengthen peace and security in our dear state,” Guwor stated.

He assured the Police of the Assembly’s continued support through legislation, advocacy, and partnership, urging closer ties with sister security agencies to ensure safety in all parts of Delta.

In his remarks, CP Adesola described the legislature as a critical stakeholder in maintaining peace and emphasized the importance of building a strong working relationship with the Assembly.

“The legislature plays a vital role in promoting security through lawmaking and oversight,” he said, pledging to work with all stakeholders to combat crime and protect lives and property.

The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the police delegation, symbolizing the commitment to ongoing collaboration between the state legislature and the police command.
