Driver in Anthony Joshua Crash Charged with Manslaughter

The driver involved in the car crash that killed two friends of boxer Anthony Joshua has been formally charged in an Ogun State court.

Kayode Adeniyi, 46, was arraigned at the Sagamu Magistrate Court on Thursday, facing counts of manslaughter and reckless driving. The case has been adjourned until January 20, 2026.

The accident occurred on Monday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Authorities cited overspeeding and wrongful overtaking as primary causes, noting Adeniyi was allegedly driving above the 65 mph speed limit when a tyre burst during an overtaking maneuver. The vehicle then collided with an illegally parked truck.

Anthony Joshua, who was a passenger, sustained minor injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital. His two friends, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele, died at the scene.
