The Super Eagles of Nigeria have surged in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, moving up 12 places to 26th globally and third in Africa. This marks the team’s highest position since May 2010, when they were ranked 21st.
The impressive rise follows Nigeria’s strong performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the team went undefeated in regular time and secured a bronze medal after losing to Morocco in a penalty shootout during the semi-finals.
Morocco also reached a historic milestone, breaking into the global top ten for the first time and rising to eighth place despite their AFCON final loss to Senegal. The reigning African champions, Senegal, climbed seven spots to 12th globally.
Spain retained its position as the top-ranked national team, followed by Argentina, France, England, and Brazil. The next FIFA rankings will be released on April 1, following the upcoming international break.
