The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden deaths of three prominent party officials, dealing a significant loss to the state’s political landscape.
The deceased are:
Hon. Onojah James Ignatius – Special Adviser to the Governor and former Chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area.
Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman – Senior Special Assistant to the Governor.
Alhaji Alih Atabo – APC Chairman of Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.
The Kogi State Government announced the tragic news in a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo.
“The Government and people of Kogi State have received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of three distinguished sons of the state,” Fanwo stated.
He described the late officials as dedicated public servants and loyal party members. Hon. Onojah James Ignatius was praised as a grassroots mobilizer and seasoned administrator. Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman was acknowledged for his humility and diligent service, while Alhaji Alih Atabo was recognized for his commitment to party unity at the ward level.
No details were provided regarding the circumstances or causes of their deaths.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, along with the state government and APC family, extended condolences to the families, friends, and political associates of the deceased.
“We commiserate with the people of Igalamela, Okene, Dekina, and all whose lives were touched by their selfless service. Their legacies of dedication and sacrifice will continue to inspire us,” Fanwo added.
The triple loss comes at a critical time for the APC in Kogi, which has been consolidating its political structure in the state.
