Ibadan, Oyo State – In a surprise political move, Oriyomi Hamzat, the well-known Chief Executive Officer of Agidigbo FM, has declared his intention to run for Governor of Oyo State in the 2027 election.
A Decision Driven by "Divine Calling"
Hamzat, a longtime media personality and political commentator, stated that his entry into active politics was unexpected and motivated by a higher purpose.
"I never imagined I would join a political party, let alone contest an election," he told supporters. "I have always been a supporter and cheerleader for aspirants and candidates, but God had other plans."
Positioning as an "Ordinary People's" Candidate
Positioning himself as an outsider, Hamzat emphasized that he lacks the traditional political advantages of wealth, powerful connections, or government backing.
"I don’t have money or political connections... I have come with God, and that is all I need," he declared.
He attributed his public goodwill to years of using his radio platform to champion the concerns of everyday citizens. "I have always used my platform to amplify the voices of the people. Now, I am taking a step further to serve you," he added.
His declaration marks a significant development as Oyo State's political landscape begins to take shape ahead of the 2027 polls.
