A Qatar Airways aircraft bound for Doha was forced to make an emergency return to Lagos on Friday after encountering a technical problem during the flight.
The airline confirmed that flight QR 1406 made an "unplanned return to Lagos due to a technical issue that occurred in flight."
"The cockpit crew followed established procedures and landed the aircraft safely," the airline stated in a release.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) also confirmed the incident, noting that the plane, carrying 248 passengers and 12 crew members, developed the fault while within Nigerian airspace, necessitating the emergency landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
All passengers and crew were reported safe following the landing.
