Sunday Oliseh: Osimhen's Conduct Cost Nigeria AFCON Victory

Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has claimed that striker Victor Osimhen's behavior was a primary reason Nigeria failed to win the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Oliseh argued that while Osimhen is a world-class talent, his actions severely damaged team chemistry. He pointed specifically to a public outburst Osimhen made against teammate Ademola Lookman, which Oliseh believes shattered the player's confidence.

"Lookman was statistically our most dangerous player until that point," Oliseh stated. "After that public criticism, he became a shadow of himself. You cannot demoralize a key playmaker and expect to win a semifinal against a tactical side like Morocco. We lost our psychological edge."

Oliseh extended his criticism to a broader issue of discipline within the squad and its support system, condemning a fan culture that he says excuses such behavior. "Scoring goals does not grant a license to disrespect legends, coaches, or teammates," he said. "If we fail to address these disciplinary and administrative failures, there may soon be no Super Eagles team left to support."
