Two Killed, Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A severe accident on Saturday afternoon at the Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has resulted in the deaths of at least two people, with several others injured, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The crash, which occurred around 3:15 p.m., involved a loaded long truck that overturned onto its side, colliding with a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota RAV4 SUV (plate LSR-618-HS), and two fully loaded interstate Mazda buses (plates APP-835-XY and JJJ-538-YE).

LASTMA officials, identified as "PAPA OSCAR," were immediately dispatched to the scene to manage traffic and coordinate the emergency response. Tow vehicles have been engaged to remove the wrecked vehicles and clear the heavily obstructed roadway.

All injured victims have been transported to nearby hospitals to receive urgent medical treatment. Recovery operations at the site are ongoing as authorities work to restore normal traffic flow.

The incident has caused a severe traffic backlog, with congestion stretching back to the Secretariat area and affecting River Valley and Kosoko. LASTMA has advised motorists to avoid the Ojodu-Berger axis entirely or expect significant delays while clearance work continues.
