Elon Musk Makes History as First Person to Reach $800 Billion Net Worth Following SpaceX–xAI Merger

Elon Musk has achieved an unprecedented financial milestone, becoming the first individual in history to amass a net worth exceeding $800 billion. This surge follows the acquisition of his artificial intelligence firm, xAI, by his aerospace company, SpaceX.

According to Forbes, the merger values the combined entity at $1.25 trillion and added approximately $84 billion to Musk’s fortune, elevating his total net worth to a record $852 billion.

Prior to the deal, Musk held roughly 42% of SpaceX and 49% of xAI. Post-merger, he now owns an estimated 43% stake in the consolidated SpaceX–xAI company, valued at about $542 billion—making it his single most valuable asset.

Musk also retains a 12% stake in Tesla, along with additional stock options in the electric vehicle manufacturer, further solidifying his position as the world’s wealthiest person.

With this landmark, Musk now leads the world’s second-richest individual, Google co-founder Larry Page, by nearly $580 billion—placing him within reach of potentially becoming the world’s first trillionaire.
